Friends helping friends in need is simply what we do in Hawaii. This year Friends of Hawaii Charities distributed $1.2 million in charitable grants to over 100 local non-profits from proceeds raised through the 2020 Sony Open in Hawaii with support from long-time charity partner, The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, title sponsor Sony Corporation, host site Waialae Country Club, and state sponsor Hawaii Tourism Authority.

One of our 2020 charity grant beneficiaries Keiki to Kupuna Foundation Meals on Wheels Program used their grant award towards the purchase of food to prepare, package and deliver nutritious meals for isolated and homebound seniors in Pearl City, Waipahu, Ewa Beach, Kapolei, and Waianae, although the program also serves Oahu island-wide, from Windward to Leeward and mauka to makai.  Each meal is crafted by a registered nutritionist to ensure it meets the needs of specific dietary restrictions. The meals can be prepared low salt, low sugar, minced, or pureed, dairy-free and for renal-friendly upon request. The grant from Friends of Hawaii Charities enables them to help even more kupuna in the community who have no way to shop for food or cook meals for themselves especially during the global pandemic.
