TURTLE BAY CHAMPIONSHIP 2008

The Turtle Bay Championship brings golf’s best to the North Shore, January 21 – 27, 2008, at the Arnold Palmer Course. Get up close to the pros in action, and take home autographs, too! This first full-field event offers a $1.5 million purse and traditionally features golf’s best including defending champion Fred Funk, five-time champion Hale Irwin, and Loren Roberts, Dana Quigley, Tom Watson, Lee Trevino, Gary Player, and Craig Stadler.
Fred Funk’s record setting 23-under par 193 for an outstanding victory at the 2007 Turtle Bay Championship shattered the old record of 195 by Jim Colbert in 1991 and Bob Murphy in 1994. Both of these players posted their figures on Maui’s Kaanapali North Course. Funk took home the winner’s check of $240,000. His Turtle Bay Championship 11-stroke winning margin was the largest winning margin in a Champions Tour tournament. His win was equally outstanding since he went wire-to-wire without a bogey in his 54-hole quest.
Playing With You
Bring your game and play with a pro of your choice on the championship Palmer Course in the official two-day, 36-hole Pro-Am Tournament on Wednesday, January 23 & Thursday, January 24. Each four-member amateur team is paired with a different CHAMPIONS TOUR professional daily as they compete in a "one best-ball" format. Pro-Am festivities begin on Tuesday, January 22rd with a fun live Turtle Race (turtles are paired with their Champions Tour pro namesake!) and Draw Party, and conclude with the Gala Pro-Am Awards Dinner on Thursday, January 24. Bring your significant other for the great parties and action to this exciting event featuring golf’s greatest ambassadors. Packages with Turtle Bay Resort hotel accommodations are available as well.
