`A`ohe lokomaika`i i nele i ke pan`i - No kind deed has ever lacked its reward.  An opportunity to help another is a gift.

Volunteers help the Friends of Hawaii Charities, host of the Sony Open in Hawaii, achieve its charity goal of raising $1 million annually to benefit Hawaii's women, children, youth, elderly, those with special needs and the impoverished.

Friends of Hawaii Charities is looking for volunteers to assist with the 2015 Sony Open in Hawaii PGA TOUR golf tournament at Waialae Country Club from January 12-18, 2015.  All volunteers are provided a shirt, headwear, badge, parking, food and beverages.

Please email friend@friendsofhawaii.org for more information if you are interested in volunteering.

Volunteer opportunities:
• Admissions
• Gallery Control (Marshals)
• Parking
• Pro Transportation
• SHOTLink
• Standard Bearers
• Volunteer Pool

Admissions - Posted at admission gates to greet and check spectators for proper credentials, sell tickets, provide general and directional information to the public, and serve as a lost and found drop off area.

Gallery Control (Marshals) - Responsible for crowd management, gallery noise control, and player movement. Committee also provides van and golf cart drivers to shuttle players from the course to secured areas following completion of play and/or due to inclement weather to safety. Marshals are expected to work three (3) full days throughout the week.

Parking - Posted at parking lots to assist with parking for volunteers, caddies, sponsors, VIPs and general public.

Pro Transportation - Transports players and their families to and from the golf course and hotels.

SHOTLink - SHOTLink laser operators operates stationary tripod lasers at locations on the course to provide statistical information. The lasers are stationed greenside and at designated landing areas. The SHOTLink System collects and disseminates scoring and statistical data on every shot, real-time, during every match via the use of hand held palm pilots. The gathered information is used immediately by television, PGA TOUR.COM, and the TOUR Links player laptop program. Training is provided by the PGA TOUR. Additional information can be found at SHOTLink.com. Mandatory training session is held Saturday before tournament.

Standard Bearers - Each Standard Bearer must be able to carry the standard (approximately 5-6 pounds) and walk the length of the course. The standard displays the Pro's score in relation to par on a cumulative basis.

Volunteer Pool - If you would like to experience volunteering in different areas each day, join the Volunteer Pool to enjoy this experience.
