Friends of Hawaii Charities brings together financial resources from the private sector and spirited volunteerism from the community to produce community fund-raising events for the benefit of Hawaii's not-for-profit organizations. Friends of Hawaii Charities focuses on producing sports and cultural events that showcase Hawaii's natural resources and beauty to the world.

The 2009 Sony Open in Hawaii PGA TOUR tournament signals the launch of full-field events on the PGA TOUR annually. 144 PGA TOUR golf pros tee it up January 12-18, 2009 to compete for a share of the $5,400,000 purse, rewarding $972,000 to the winner. Waialae Country Club golf course with Pacific oceanside greens and brisk trade winds is the historic venue for competitive international golf professionals annually. SBS OPEN AT TURTLE BAY 2009 |
This past February, Annika Sorenstam made her return to the winner’s circle with a record-setting 70th LPGA career victory at the SBS OPEN at Turtle Bay. This dramatic launch of the 2008 LPGA tournament season at Turtle Bay Resort, the spectacular surf and golf destination on Oahu’s North Shore, was home to Sorenstam’s landmark victory in mid-February on the championship par-72 Arnold Palmer-designed course.
